Why Queer Fiction?

Too often, queer characters in fiction are one-dimensional; the only thing that matters about them is their sexual identity. I believe readers want more; they want to see each character’s rich, individual diversity—their complexities and self-contradictions, their hopes and dreams and fears. The stories I write let queer characters come fully alive on the page. Yes, they may wrestle with internal demons, and face a harsh and hostile world, but they always find love triumphs, if they can only open their hearts enough to let it.
